Max - Eye Surgery

Organized by RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK RESCUE

Max - needs eye surgery at 12 years of age
Our family adopted Max in 2002 from the animal shelter in Sacramento, Ca. when he was 2 years old. He was in the shelter because his previous owner had passed away but it was easy to see Max was a very well trained and lovable dog. We fell in love with him right away. My two disabled brothers developed a strong emotional bond with him within a short period of time. He has turned out to be a wonderful companion to us all and has proved to love us unconditionally. We have always felt a special sense of security both physically and emotionally with him as part of our family. In 2005 my mother divorced and we were forced to moved north where Max played a large part in helping my brothers cope with the big changes in their lives. As the years have passed our love for him has only grown stronger. Unfortunately, financial issues have affected us in the recent years and we have all had to make sacrifices to be sure Max has had everything he needs. However, his current condition requires more than we have. He has a tumor that has grown out from under his eyelid. The tumor rubs against his cornea every time he blinks. We use lubricating eye-drops to make this as comfortable as possible but the tumor has continued to enlarge. Besides causing increased irritation it is now starting to obstruct his vision. We want to continue to give to him all the care he deserves but we can not come up with the $517 it will take to remove this tumor. This is why we are asking for your help. We want and need Max to be a part of our lives for as long as possible but we hate to see him struggling with this problem. We want so much to take this problem away from him so he can live out his elderly years in comfort. After all he has done so much for us during the past 10 years and especially for my brothers. He deserves to get help.
