Rudy's Surgery
Rudy had both ACLs ruptured at a very young age and came into rescue at the age of three. He was overweight and so lame he could hardly walk. We were told he had hip dysplasia. We could see by how he tried to walk that there was nothing wrong with his hips. We had him X-Rayed and found both Anterior Cruciate Ligaments were completly ruptured and had been for a long time. Surgery or euthanasia were the two options for Rudy. He was too young to live the rest of his life in pain and we chose to help him by having the surgery to make him whole again.
His first surgery earlier this year was successful and he walks without pain or a limp on his one leg. Now we need to do the same procedure on the other bad leg. The surgeries and recovery times for both legs is taking another six months of his life which should have been pain free and happy.
The surgeon performed a procedure called a Tibia Plateau Levelling Osteotomy (TPLO). The surgery is unfortunately very costly and we did several fundraisers to raise the needed money for the two surgeries However, we were only able to bring in enough money to pay for the one leg. Now we need to raise a total of $4,000. for the next leg.
Rudy is a vibrant, young Ridgeback who is full of life. He has not met a human who has not fallen in love with him. He is personable and thus far cannot be faulted. He does not steal food, or get on the furniture. He gets along with everyone and loves all dogs. Being a Ridgeback, he does frown upon cats in his presence. He walks politely on leash and off leash. He travels well in the car or truck. He waits politely for his food at meal times and eats absolutely anything offered to him. He loves blackberries and raspberries. He is a wonderful boy and deserves to be totally pain free.
